FALL GENERAL MEETING
MINUTES
Oct 4th, 2023
1. Call to order by Lonnie at 7:31
2. A moment of silence to respect long time Bentley Curling Club members who have
passed away this year. Special mention of Lorraine Stevenson.
3. Introduction of Board Members -Lonnie Bergstrom, Trina Dressser, Dana
Holloway, Allan Wilson, Steve Dick, Nancy Haarstad, Gail Wilson.
4. Allan approved the agenda as amended, seconded by Gail. Carried.
5. Nancy /Gail approved the minutes of the Fall 2022 general meeting as presented.

6. President’s report Lonnie did his report via a power point presentation. Some
highlights: Darren Moulding will continue as our Ice Tech; “Shannon Anderson will
continue as Lounge Attendant (extra ordinaire) Expenses for last year were about
$21,000 for Power, $12,000 for gas and $2,100 for Telus and security; there was an
increase in Lounge profit; Wall advertising is about $4500 in revenue; Town of
Bentley pays building insurance; Overall profits from Bonspiels was $24,000; Overall
the Bentley Curling Club made a profit in 2022-2023.
7. Thank you to Donna Cruden who is retiring as a Board member this year.

9. Treasurer’s report
A lot of the Treasurer’s report was covered in the President’s report. We will be
installing a new digital cash system which needs WiFi.

Trina approved her report as presented, Second by Gail. Carried.
10. Business arising from minutes
The date chosen for the raffle date was Easter weekend.
MOTION Dana moved, Gail Seconded that the Cash Raffle draw date be
changed to April 6, 2024 . Carried

a)Start dates for our curling leagues
• Senior’s – Mondays 10 AM - Oct 30
• Men’s - Mondays 7 PM – Oct 30
• Wednesday Mixed – Wednesdays 7 PM – Nov 1
• Thursday Mixed – Thursdays 7 PM – Nov 2
Friday Two Person Stick – Fridays 10 AM – Nov 3
Little Rocks /Junior run by Steve Dick Tuesday evenings
b) Curling fees are the same as last year • Club membership fee $130 plus $13 for
Curling Alberta/insurance payable at only one curling club that you are a member of.
• Men's or mixed league fee $60
Seniors or Stick league fee $20
Locker fee is $20 Need to pay to receive lock code
• Junior curlers pay a flat $50
Bentley Club Cash Raffle $100
ALL MEMBERS MUST REGISTER VIA THE WEBSITE. Exec members
will be available to assist on registration days.
c) Casino dates are February 24, 25 at the NEW casino. Sign up sheet for volunteers
will be at the bar.
13. Third and final call for nominations. NONE
14. Michelle Lesperance/ Gail moved that nominations cease. Carried.
15. Other Business
Hack to Hack will be laid down on October 13-volunteers needed. Weather
permitting.
Outside garbage disposal is inadequate . BCC will be asking the town for assistance.
Flies have been purged. DR. Doom is being sprayed above ceiling.
Nancy will orientate all members of safety procedures in case of a Fire Drill. She will
prepare a document and go over the procedures at each league start up day.
